But, the time is coming for many people were there snow will be covered by snow. I've been researching snow removal tools and over the next few weeks I'll be revealing some of the better snowplows, snow shovels, and snow throwers out there right now. As a matter of fact I'm going to reveal my first pick right now, the Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower.

The Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower. has been reviewed very well on websites like Amazon.com. Let's try to figure out why. First off, the Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower. can throw snow by as much as 30 feet. 30 feet is enough to clear your driveway to go to work or even “accidentally” burry that dog next door that won't barking. The Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower. it's also why, which means you're not to have to spend a lot of time clearing out a Blvd. in the snow for your car to get to the street.

I generally prefer gas powered lawn tools, but in the middle of winter when I'm just trying to get somewhere I really don't want to have to worry about oil and gas in whether or not everything's properly greased up, especially if I'm just trying to get to work. That's what makes the Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower. so convenient! The Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower. is powered by electricity and plugs into a wall socket. It will start instantly without fail every time you need it. I suppose that's one of the reasons why it's so popular.

Ultimately, their two really good reasons to own the Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower. It's powerful, and if you look at the user pictures on Amazon you'll see just how powerful it is. The Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower. flings snow as if it were the abominable snowman. You build a clear path in no time. It's also powered by electricity, which means all you have to do is plug it in and it's going to work instantly. I can't think of any more compelling reasons to own the Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower.

Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse Workbench

Hello Readers,

Today I don’t have so much a power tool as I do a powered by you tool. This vital “power tool” can be just as important as any drill or hammer to someone making minor framing repairs on the house or finishing a cabinet. This important power tool is the Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse.

Aside from clamps and vice grips being useful in general, particularly for the tasks you never thought you bought it for like sanding smaller pieces of wood or getting a precision cut on the small piece of steel, the Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse is designed particularly well making it one of the better selling power tools overall on Amazon.com, the world’s largest internet retailer.

There is so much to talk about here I’ve decided to focus on five key features. The first thing I want to address is that you can apply as much as 2,200 pounds of raw force to keep an object in place. That means you can probably get away with holding dressers and without having to worry about the Rockwell Jawhorse RK9000 falling. Another thing the 2,200 pounds of staying power offers is being able to keep whatever it is you’re working on very stable. If you’ve ever cut wood or metal you know it can be hard to keep things steady and very easy to wind up with a crooked piece of metal or wood. Well, using over a ton worth of force to keep your objects steady while you’re cutting them is going to give you better cuts every time, plain and simple!

I’m sure you’re thinking a power tool like the Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse must be heavy and unweildly for all the power it offers. Well, you’re wrong. At only 43 lbs., it’s a fairly light piece of equipment, considering it can support full size pieces of sheetrock. It’s very easy to store. When you’re done with your hammering for the day you can fold down the Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse to 28” x 13”! That’s pretty darn small. It’s also probably shorter than your weed whacker once you get it folded, and definitely takes up less space than a lawn mower!
What caps the Rockwell Jawhorse RK9000 off is the rolling wheels that allow you to easily transport it anywhere. Wether you ‘re taking it to the jobsite or putting it back in your garage, you’ll be able to get it where you need it to go without a hassle.
Features:

Foot operated clamping pedal means you can handle material with both hands

Vice Jaws extend up to 37” or more than 3 feet wide

Tripod base delivers maximum stability

Folding design and wheels for easy storage and portability

Quick-release lock allows you to lock material and release it with the touch of a button

DEWALT DC720KA Cordless Drill Review

The DEWALT DC720KA Cordless Drill is one of the smaller, more lightweight cordless electric drills offered by DeWalt. DeWalt has designed the handle with ergonomics in mind. Ergonomics is the study of equipment design with an emphasis on reducing fatigue and injuries. Rest assured, DeWalt has done everything possible to ensure the DEWALT DC720KA Cordless Drill is as comfortable as humanly possible. One feature I’m particularly happy to tell you about is the built in LED light. As most of us know, it can get difficult to see what you’re doing, especially in tight spaces. Fortunately, the DEWALT DC720KA Cordless Drill includes a build in LED light that will help you see everything you need to when screwing in or unscrewing whatever you need to. There’s also two battery packs, that means you can use one and charge the other. What this boils down to is never running out of battery power because the other battery can be charged in an hour. For those of us who misplace things, you’ll be glad to know that there is an onboard bit storage system built right in to the drill. Never lose a bit again!

Lawn Boy 10641 Gas Powered Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

Well, it’s time we explore one of the lower end lawn mowers. That’s no to say the Lawn Boy 10641 Gas Powered Lawn Mower is a low life, just lower in price. What exactly does $269 buy you these days? Well, read the rest of my review and I’ll be happy to tell you.

Well, the first thing $269 buys you is a Briggs and Stratton Gasoline engine. Man, I do love the Briggs and Stratton engines. “Why?” you ask? That’s easy. I’ve used a lot of different lawn mowers in my day and my experience tells me they start easier and last much longer than most other lawn mower engines. That’s not to say there aren’t other well made engines, it’s just that the Briggs and Stratton Lawn Mower happens to be my favorite.

Next, you get a self propelled lawn mower. A self propelled lawn mower pushes itself so you don’t have to. Just guide it down the lawn and the Lawn Boy 10641 Gas Powered Lawn Mower will do the rest of the work for you! Just be careful, the lawn mower can get away from you if you’ve never used a self propelled model before. Just make sure you have a firm grip when you use it for the first time!

Next, you get a 20” cutting area. Twenty inches is right in line with most other gas powered lawn mowers in this class and should keep your mowing times down to a minimum. If you want to reduce your yard work time by buying a larger lawn mower, that’s going to cost you about another $100. Still, 20” is plenty for most people.

There’s also the 3-in1 mulching, discharge, or bag catch option for your clippings. The mulching feature basically chews the clippings twice so they’re less noticeable if you choose not to rake up the clippings. Mulching rather than having the lawn mower spit out the clippings on the side makes it easier and faster for the clippings to break down and release nutrietnts back in to the soil. Mulching is a crucial to the success of any well manicured lawn.

Overall, this is one of the better gas powered lawn mowers you’re going to find. It might not look as cool as some of the other gas powered lawn mowers, and certainly is not as chic as any electric lawn mower, but it does what It needs to do well, namely, cut grass. You won’t be disappointed with the Lawn Boy 10641 Gas Powered Lawn Mower.

Poulan Pro 625 Gas Powered Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

Today’s gas powered lawn mower review is the Poulan Pro 625 Gas Powered Lawn Mower PR625y22RkPX. It’s one of the more expensive gas powered lawn mowers on the market right now and I’ll go over all the features and help you figure out if this is the right gas powered lawn mower for you. I personally have a Craftsman Lawn Mower in my garage, and before that I had a Toro Reel Mower, I couldn’t tell you the model number on the Toro Reel Mower because that was over a decade ago. Anyway, enough of me, time for my Poulan Pro 625 Gas Powered Lawn Mower PR625y22RkPX Review.

As I already mentioned, the Poulan Pro 625 Gas Powered Lawn Mower PR625y22RkPX is on the heavier side of the pricing spectrum. You’re paying a lot, but Poulan does a better job than many other companies at justifying the price. Let’s start off with the 22” cutting deck. That’s a very wide cutting area and if you have a larger yard, you’ll definitely appreciate the extra width afforded by the Poulan Pro 625 Gas Powered Lawn Mower. Yeah, it might only by an extra inch or two wider than other lawn mowers in this price range and class, but it certainly adds up over time! So, put shorter lawn mowing time in the win column for the Poulan Pro 625 Gas Powered Lawn Mower .

Like most modern lawn mowers, the Poulan Pro 625 Gas Powered Lawn Mower PR625y22RkPX has a built in mulching system. Basically, mulching chews your lawn clippings twice so the clippings break down and feed your lawn. You shouldn’t use this feature all the time, but if you’re lazy and don’t want to deal with the hassle of emptying the catch bag it’s probably your best option. You won’t have amazing grass, but it will be fine.

Finally, there’s the 7” front and 12” rear wheel. Have you ever used a lawn mower with small wheels then tried to mow your lawn after you came back from a month lawn vacation? I have. It’s hell. Literally, it’s hell. I felt like I needed another month off after the two and a half hour ordeal. It normally takes me about an hour and a half to mow my lawn, the small wheels kept getting stuck in gopher holes and thicker patches of grass. The huge wheels on the Poulan Pro 625 Gas Powered Lawn Mower PR625y22RkPX will help prevent you from getting mired in grass and keep you moving smooth. Oh, one last thing, I particularly like the Briggs and Stratton Engines used in lawn mowers in general, and that’s just what the Poulan Pro 625 Gas Powered Lawn Mower PR625y22RkPX is powered with. In short, my experience tells me it starts much easier than a lot of other lawn mower engines.

Yard-Man 12b-569Q755 Gas Powered Lawn Mower

The Yard-Man 12b-569Q755 Gas Powered Lawn Mower is built with a 160cc Honda Gas Engine. That means you’re going to get plenty of power. Oh, before I go in to the review in detail I want to let everyone know that if you have a large lawn and need power to get through thick turf an electric lawn mower simply won’t do. It will stop, slow, and eventually lose power on you because it has to work harder to get through those thicker, rougher areas of your lawn. Just a thought anyway.

So, what makes the Yard-Man 12b-569Q755 Gas Powered Lawn Mower special? Aside from the powerful Honda Gas Powered Engine, it boasts 9 height adjustments. That’s considerable. You’ll be able to get your lawn the exact height you like and you wont’ have to worry about having the wrong mower for the wrong kind of grass. (Different grass types require different cutting heights to thrive. If you plan being professional about your yard work, plan on spending a little extra dough for a lawn mower that can cut right.)

Like any good lawn mower, the Yard-Man 12b-569Q755 Gas Powered Lawn Mower has three functions. It can spit the clippings out the side, place them in a bag, or mulch them. Mulching basically means the lawn mower will chew the clippings twice so they break down in your lawn faster and release nutrients. You shouldn’t use this feature all the time, but it’s definitely part of an excellent lawn mowing routine!

One thing the Yard-Man 12b-569Q755 Gas Powered Lawn Mower definitely has going for it is the large wheels. These are so often neglected. Small front wheels can make it hard to maneuver and push!!! I know, I’ve used lawn mowers with small wheels before and it isn’t fun, especially when your friend asks you to mow his backyard for the first time in half a decade because he’s having a party, STEVE. But hey, I’m not bitter.
Overall, the Yard-Man 12b-569Q755 Gas Powered Lawn Mower is an okay buy. There are definitely better gas powered lawn mowers out there for less money. Do some shopping, read my reviews, you’ll find something better, I promise. Try checking out a Lawn-Boy Gas Powered Lawn Mower. I like the Briggs and Stratton Engine Lawn Boy uses better than the Honda Engine. They start better in my opinion.

Solaris S21HB Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

It’s time for another great lawn mower review from your favorite lawn mower review guy! This time I’ll be talking about the Solaris S21HB Electric Lawn Mower. I must say, this is a particularly sexy looking lawn mower, if it were a bright pearl color, it would look like it could be related to EVE from Wall-E. Of course, this is an electric lawn mower, so you have all the advantages that come with a battery powered lawn mower including not having to buy gas, change oil, or buy and change spark plugs and filters. Why do I mention the advantages of electric mowers every electric lawn mower review? Simple. Not everyone who visits the site is going to read all my lawn mower reviews like you did!

One thing I want to mention is that the Solaris S21HB Lawn Mower can be powered by a solar panel. The panels themselves cost about $200 bucks, so factor that in to your buying decision. But, the cool factor of a solar powered lawn mower is well worth the money in my opinion. The batteries themselves will take about 3 days worth of sun if you’re charging them with a solar panel. Come to think of it, the solar panel would be more show than utilitarian.

If you’re wondering how long the batteries last, they’ll go for about 10,000 square feet on a full charge. That’s just shy of a 1/3rd of an acre. That means you’ll be able to cut your small to medium sized lawn on a single charge. Oh, there’s also an LED battery level indicator that will let you know how close to death the battery is. That should enable you to speed up your mowing and get what you NEED done before the Solaris S21HB Lawn Mower poops out on you. Very useful feature indeed.

The Solaris S21HB Lawn Mower can also be adjusted for cutting height. It can cut between 1.5” and 3.5” with 7 different positions. I’ve seen lawn mowers with greater range, but really, 7 different settings between 1.5” and 3.5” is really nothing to complain about, but I will. Solaris, please give me 10 different settings if you decide to upgrade this model in the future. Thank you very much.

Overall, the Solaris S21HB Lawn Mower is one of the better lawn mowers out there. It comes with two, count ‘em, two batteries. That means you’re getting quite a bit for your money considering most electric lawn mowers include just one battery. You can use one and charge the other! I really like that feature and this alone makes it an electric lawn mower worth buying!

Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

It’s time for another gas powered lawn mower review. This time it’s the Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower. One cool little factoid here, the Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower is the official lawn mower of NASCAR? Why does NASCAR need an official lawn mower? I don’t know, only the profit margins could tell us I suppose. One other thing I want to mention is Amazon was reluctant to get in to the business of selling gas powered lawn mowers but there have been more models to choose from as of late and I applaud Amazon for it!

On to the Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower Review. What I really like about this lawn mower is the exceptionally wide cutting width. The Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower has a 21” wide blade that will allow you to cut your lawn mowing time by as much as 40% compared to other lawn mowers with shorter blades.

Oh, if you’re worried about the Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower being far too unwieldly to be useful to you, don’t worry. The Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower is a self propelled lawn mower. When you see self propelled on a lawn mower that means the lawn mower has a built in drive system that pushes the lawn mower forward so all you have to do is direct the angle. It makes for much less work and you feeling less tired at the end of your yard work day.

Oh! My favorite feature of the Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower is the 9 different cutting heights. It can be annoying if you have a lawn mower with 2 or 3 height settings. But rest assured, you’ll be able to get the right height if you buy the Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower because there are 9 different cutting heights to choose from!

Ultimately, the Yard-Man 12AE46JA001 Gas Powered Lawn Mower is an excellent lawn mower for a decent price. It has amazing reviews on Amazon.com and if you don’t believe me click the link just below this paragraph and read what other people have to say about this gas powered lawn mower.

Mantis 811103 Electric Reel Mower Review

Hello Readers,

Unique things are worth a look. That’s why I’ve decided to review the Mantis 811103 Electric Reel Mower. It’s unique because this is the first Electric Reel Mower I’ve seen. A reel mower as opposed to a regular lawn mower uses a reel of blades to cut crass as opposed to two arm blades. Once again, I like variety and the Mantis Reel Mower 811103 definitely adds to the range of lawn mower options out there.

As always, let’s start out with the good. The Mantis Reel Mower 811103 doesn’t pollute, or so the manufacturer claims. Honestly, everything pollutes, even that hippie food you buy at Whole Foods. I tried the buffet by the pound thing the other day, mediocre stuff man. Anyway, for you tree huggers, you won’t put anymore pollutants in to the air by burning gas, you’ll charge a battery and the power plant that supplies you will put the carbon in the air for you. Ahh, shifting the burden on to others, an American tradition.

Another cool thing is the padded handle. Right now my lawn mower handele isn’t padded. It could be, if I got some Styrofoam and tape, but I’m too lazy for that. Fortunately for those lucky few who buy the Mantis Reel Mower 811103 you won’t have to worry about being motivated enough to pad your lawn mower handle because it’s all built in! Woo hoo for laziness.
Oh, and like all good lawn mowers the Mantis Reel Mower 811103 can adjust it’s height so you can get your grass looking just the way you want it. Ya know, there are actually rules for how tall your grass should be cut, I’ll post them. Well, not so much rules as laws of nature and when you follow them your grass will look better. Oh, and don’t cut more than twice a week. Every ten days is good for decent St. Augustine by the way.

Overall, this is a decent lawn mower and great if you like the reel type lawn mower. You’re going to notice your grass looks different after mowing with a reel mower as opposed to a more traditional two blade system. If you don’t like change, go with another electric or gas powered lawn mower. However, if you’re just looking to cut a medium to small sized lawn and get it over with, there is no compelling reason to buy the Mantis Reel Mower 811103. In fact, look for a better deal.

Black and Decker LM175 Electric Lawn Mower

Hello Readers,

I thought I would keep my review of the Black and Decker LM175 Electric Mower because it’s late and it’s a very well made, inexpensive lawn mower. Quick and simple best describes this Electric Lawn Mower. Real quick, the Black and Decker LM175 Electric Lawn Mower has an 18” cutting path. That’s amazing considering I’ve seen cutting paths as small and pathetic as 14”. Really, that’s a lot more than I expected from an electric mower under $150. That’s even cheaper than most gas powered lawn mowers! Oh, it can also adjust cutting height and only weighs about 35 pounds.
In short, if you have a small lawn and very small budget the Black and Decker LM175 Electric Lawn Mower is definitely for you!

Lawn Boy 10640 Gas Powered Lawn Mower

Hello Readers,

Well, I’ve mostly talked about electric powered lawn mowers, but I’m finally breaking with tradition and brining you a review of the Briggs and Stratton Gas Powered Lawn Mower. Gas powered lawn mowers are generally much less expensive than their electric lawn mower counterparts and deliver a great deal more power, however they take quite a bit more maintenance to keep in tip top shape. There is oil, gas, and filters to worry about buying and replacing when you purchase a gas mower. Okay, that does it for my brief intro to Gas Mowers, on with my review of the Lawn Boy 10640 Gas Powered Lawn Mower.

First off it comes with a powerful 6.5 GT 650 Series Briggs and Stratton Engine. It starts up with little ease. I suppose the main advantage to the Lwan Boy 10640 Gas Powered Lawn Mower is price. Price was the main factor involved in building this lawn mower. If you’re looking for a cheap gas powered lawn mower you’re not going to find anything much more reliable for less than $250 bucks anywhere, unless you find some sucker at a yard sale willing to part with his almost new lawn mower for fifty bucks for some reason. Ahhh, I love taking advantage of suckers….I mean, good deals.
A lot of gas powered mowers lack a mulching option. Not so with the Lawn Boy 10640 Gas Powered Mower. It’s equipped with a 3 function cutting system with the option to spit out clippings on the side, mulch or mutiliate them so you don’t have to rake up large unsightly chunks, or simply direct the clippings in to the catch bag that’s included with the lawn mower.

Oh, did I mention the lawn mower is covered for two years from any and all defects? Yeah, two whole years! Sounds like a good deal to me, especially when it’s retailing for a fairly low price of $239!

Worx ECO WG780 Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

Well, it looks like its time for another Worx Electric Lawn Mower Review. Today I bring you a review of the Worx ECO WG780 Electric Lawn Mower. Worx is one of those companies that does it’s best to be environmentally friendly and help it’s customers be as kind to the environment as well. To that end, Worx as developed one of the better Electric Lawn Mowers on the market today so you don’t have to use a carbon powered gas guzzling lawn mower.

Let’s start off with what I like about this lawn mower. First, the Worx ECO WG780 Lawn Mower cuts more than an acre’s worth of lawn with a single battery charge. That’s about 10% more than other electric lawn mowers in the same price range. How Worx does it? I don’t know. All I do know is that it works and works better than most other electric lawn mower batteries.

Like all good mowers, the Worx ECO WG780 Electric Lawn Mower has three functions, it can mulch, which basically means it chews the clippings up twice so they’re small, discharge clippings on the side, or collect clippings in a collection bag. The collection bag is kind of located strange place, but a few mowing sessions with this mower and you’ll get the hang of things.

One thing I really like is the ergonomically designed handle. Ergonomics is the study of what’s comfortable to the body. Basically, Worx has made the handle of the ECO WG780 Mower as human-friendly as possible so your hands don’t hurt afterwards. Sorry robots, you’ll have to look for another lawn mower.

One thing I definitely don’t like is the price. I would like to see the price dropped about $30 bucks to be a little more competitive with a couple other Black and Decker Electric Mowers, but hey, I guess the good stuff is always going to cost you more money. Overall, this is a well made lawn mower for people with small to medium sized lawns and you’ll get a lot of miles out of it.

Black and Decker CMM1200 Cordless Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

I have another excellent review for you tonight. It’s been a great summer so far and I’ve gotten a good corn yield this year! I’ll be testing some of that home grown corn tomorrow night at my first “barbecue slash get together”. I really wish I had a banner that said that, would make me so much cooler. Anyway, the Black and Decker CMM1200 Cordless Electric Lawn Mower is one of the more popular electric lawn mowers on Amazon.

I really don’t know why this electric lawn mower is as popular as it is. There are better options out there, pretty much any of the Neuton Electric Lawn Mowers offer more power and options, albeit for a higher price tag, but there are some cost effective Neuton Electric Lawn Mower models if you look and read my reviews.

However, there are some things I do like about the Black and Decker CMM1200 Electric Lawn Mower, for instance it can mow about a 1/3 acre worth of lawn on a single battery charge. That’s quite a bit and should be just enough staying power to get through anything you would be buying this lawn mower for. (For bigger lawns I definitely recommend a traditional gas mower. Yes, they take more maintenance, but you can’t beat the power they deliver!)

The Black and Decker CMM1200 does come up a little short in a few areas. First of all, the battery takes forever to charge. It will take as many as four hours to get a 70% charge and you’ll have to wait a whole extra day to cut your lawn if you want to charge the thing all the way. Well, maybe not if you start cutting your lawn at sunrise, but still 5 hours or more to charge a battery is simply way too much! Also, I don’t like the short cutting height range. I’m just the kind of guy that likes extra options just in case I need or want to do something different. Options are good!
Over all, this is a great lawn mower if you have a small lawn for a condo or an apartment or something, but it’s definitely not for people like me that have a huge backyard to mow. Simply put, great for small lawns, bad for large lawns.

Earthwise 60120 Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

Here’s my last review for the day then it’s off to take care of my own gardening needs. Here is the last of the Earthwise 60120 Electric Lawn Mowers and a full review.

This Earthwise Electric Lawn Mower is equipped with a removable battery pack that can be charged while in place or removed. Once again, I like lawn mowers that give me options and having the option to bring the battery inside my house to charge may sound like a weird thing to admire, but some of us don’t have outlets outside our home!

Like just about every lawn mower in the electric category, the Earthwise 60120 Electric Lawn Mower has catch bag and mulching system built in. It’s useful for people who don’t have room for a mulch pile too because you can crunch your clippings down and stuff more in to your trash can. It will also break up your waste much faster leaving less pollution in the landfill.

The Earthwise 60120 Electric Lawn Mower has large 7 inch wheels and anybody who has done some lawn mowing on a regular basis knows it can be a real hassle if your wheel gets stuck in a gopher hole or you have to push the lawn mower extra hard to move it over those bumps. Larger wheels make it much easier to cross these obstacles; think of them like wheels for a monster truck and you’ll probably understand what I’m talking about.

The blade is 20”, one of the wider blades I’ve seen for the $310 price tag. Now that I think of it, the price is also very good on the Earthwise 60120 Electric Lawn Mower. Most lawn mowers with this amount of power and blade length will set you back at least four hundred bucks if not five hundred. Earthwise hodls the line on prices and Amazon is able to offer this lawn mower for just over $300 bucks. Throw in the 2 year warranty and a decent cutting length range and you got an excellent lawn mower for your money.

Earthwise 50118 Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

The Earthwise 50118 Electric Lawn Mower is a decent lawn mower at a decent price. This Earthwise Lawn Mower has a large 7 inch wheels that will allow you to roll over those bumps and dips in a rugged lawn. I used to have an older Craftsman lawn mower with small wheels and it was always a pain to roll that thing over small bumps in the grass. The seven inch wheels help ensure that your passes will go by quickly with little delay.

One of the weak spots in the Earthwise lawn mower is the surprisingly short range of cutting lengths it allows you to do. I really do prefer to have a lawn mower with a 1.5 – 4 inch range. The Earthwise 50118 Electric Lawn Mower is only designed to cut from 1.75 – 3.75 inches. It’s not a big deal, particularly if you’re just looking for something to make your lawn decent, but I do like having extra options. It comes in handy every so often, especially if you plan on regularly thatching your lawn.

One thing nobody can complain about is the price. Coming in at $165 bucks this lawn mower is just about the least expensive thing you can get on Amazon.com. There may be a couple lawnmowers here and there with lower price tags, but I couldn’t vouch for their quality or reliability. In my opinion, it’s always best to pay five or ten dollars more and have that peace of mind knowing you bought something that’s going to last you a while.

Epic EP21H Self Propelled Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

Right now it’s time for my review of the Epic EP21H Self Propelled Electric Lawn Mower. The Epic Ep21H Lawn Mower truly is a lawn mower of Epic proportions. It boasts a 21” blade which means you can plow through a large area of lawn in a relatively short time, particularly compared to some of the puny by comparison 14 and 15 inch blades.

If you like to get specific with the thickness of your lawn, there is plenty of room for fine tuning. The Epic Ep21H Electric Lawn Mower can be set at 7 different heights between 1.5 inches to 3.5 inches. There are some types of grass that can be cut much lower, but most of those kinds of grasses are grown on golf courses and make terrible turf for barbecues!

One thing I don’t like is people keep reporting that this lawn mower only lasts 40 or 50 minutes. I really would like to see one of these lawn mowers last a full hour! If anybody out there owns an electric battery powered lawn mower with extraordinary battery capacity let me know so I can be sure to steer my readers that way!

I generally don’t have a use for this feature for my lawn or garden, but the built in mulcher is great for grinding leaves and clippings down a lot so I can fit more in to my trash can. It’s so nice to be able to have a machine do all my compacting for me; it really does save a lot of time. I like gardening, but I like free time I can do whatever I want with even more!

As far as pricing goes, there are about a dozen electric lawn mowers with similar features and power for the same price. Most people who buy the Epic EP21H Self Propelled Electric Lawn Mower are generally happy with their purchase but some complain about the 40-50 minutes of battery life. It’s not uncommon for people with large yards to purchase a second battery to ensure getting through the yard without having to wait for a recharge.

Solaris SP21HB Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

Welcome to another exciting Lawn Mower Review here at the Lawn Tool Master blog. It’s time to bring you another excellent lawn mower review, today I have chosen the Solaris Electric Lawn Mower SP21HB. One bit of advice for the entire industry, name your lawn mowers better please. Something like Solaris E21 would be cool or Solaris Grass Eater 2000 would be even better. Just a thought, it would definitely make it easier for me to remember product names and make recommendations to people I happen to run in to at the hardware store looking for hardware. Okay, so it’s more like I’m trying to find them and preach…but hey, we are all passionate about something, even if that something is nothing. Anyway, on to the Solaris Sp21HB Electric Lawn Mower Review.

This Solaris Lawn Mower is a self propelled model. I generally shy away from self propelled lawn mowers because it just means there’s an extra thing to break down. I might change my mind when I’m in my 50’s and need things to be as easy as possible….but I probably won’t’ be doing all my own gardening by then either, I’ll probably hire a gardener to do my heavy lifting and do the fun stuff myself. From what I understand, the self propulsion system itself isn’t all that powerful anyway, but that’s to be expected from just about anything related to power on an electric lawn mower.

One thing I particularly like are the on and off board charging options. That means you don’t have to unplug the battery to charge it. I lose things a lot and this feature makes it much less likely my yard will look nappy because I can’t for the life of me remember where I put the battery. Another thing I like is the wide range of cutting height options. The height can be adjusted from 1.5 inches to 3.5 inches, which is much more than I can say for many residential grade lawn mowers in general. OH, there’s also a battery indicator. Battery charge indicators are seldom included in electric lawn mowers, a fact I wish were not so.

Overall, this is not a good electric mower. Like many electric lawn mowers I award low scores to, there are simply more powerful models out there for less money. If you’re looking for a good electric lawn mower with decent power at a good price check out more of my reviews or just visit Amazon.com. There are plenty of lawn mowers to choose from!

Earthwise 50120 Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers,

If you’re looking for the most cost effective electric lawn mower possible I think I may have found it. The Earthwise Electric Lawn Mower 50120 is a corded lawn mower that will pretty much cut anything you need to so long as you have a long enough extension cord. I personally don’t reccmond buying an electric lawn mower if you have anything larger than a medium sized yard, but it’s great for people who have small front yards or backyards that feel more like patches of grass than actual yards.

The Earthwise 50120 is equipped with a 20” blade. That’s not such a huge deal for the target demographic, people with smaller lawns. Still, it’s nice to know your mowing isn’t going to take forever and a day to get through. One feature I particularly like is the plug-in socket.

Other than that, the Earthwise Electric Lawn Mower has all the standard features you would expect from any lawn mower. You can adjust height from 1.75” – 3.75, not as much variety as I would prefer to see, but if you’re just using this to cut a small patch of lawn for 10 or 15 minutes that’s probably not going to make much of a difference to you.

What really makes me excited about the Earthwise Electric Lawn Mower is that it is cheap. Yes, it is very cheap. Coming in at about $160 bucks this is an excellent, cost effective way of dealing with your lawn. The battery powered lawn mowers generally start at $350, and even though powering this electric lawn mower with batteries would be convenient, keeping the price below $200 justifies the inconvenience of using a power cord.

One other thing I want to be sure to mention about the Earthwise 50120 Electric Lawn Mower is that it looks cool. A lot of these electric lawn mowers have that "I drive a Prius" look. Thank god this Earthwise Electric Lawn Mower does not!

Neuton CE 6.3 19 Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello Readers and Legions of Fans,

This time I’m going to be talking about the most powerful Neuton Electric Lawn Mower, the Neuton CE 6.3 19 Inch Lawn Mower. This lawn mower is priced about a hundred bucks more than the next model down, but that hundred bucks buys you a lot more power and for those of us with large lawns, quite a bit more time in the day.
Neuton has equipped the CE 6.3 Electric Lawn Mower with a 19 inch blade as opposed to a 14 or 15 inch blade included on most other lawn mowers. This might not sound like much but that can cut down your passes by about a third. Think of it, lopping 20 minutes off a lawn that takes an hour to mow or 10 minutes off a lawn that takes a half hour to mow is huge! Especially during the summer when it’s a hundred degrees out and all you have to drink is luke warm water, but hey, I’m not bitter.

The Neuton CE 6.3 is also the most powerful cordless electric lawn mower offered under the Neuton brand. It works off a 750 watt motor and uses a battery to supply power. (By the way, don’t EVER get a lawn mower with a cord, it’s bad times, trust me, bad times.) The battery supplies enough power to cut a square mile worth of lawn or a 1/3 of an acre. That means you can probably mow for about an hour. This is going to be good enough for most lawns, and really, if you can afford a house with more than a square mile a lawn you should probably be wealthy enough to pay a gardener to bring in a riding mower and do it for you.

Unfortunately for this Neuton Lawn Mower there are much better options out there that offer similar power but cost significantly less money. At $500 bucks this is definitely a huge investment! I would personally prefer to stick with a gas mower anyway, even though the maintenance requirements are much more strenuous because they are cheaper and work better. If you insist on an electric lawn mower, look through my reviews, you’ll definitely find something you like that won’t set you back for nearly so much money.

Neuton CE 5.2 Electric Lawn Mower Review

Hello,

I have a big backyard and I’ve logged in hundreds of lawn mowing hours over the years mowing my backyard alone. That doesn’t include the front yard and all the volunteer gardening I’ve done over the years! If anyone knows what a good lawn mower is it’s me. I’ve used everything from Scott’s push mowers to Toro Riding mowers. (Riding mowers are fun, it’s like riding a go-kart but actually accomplishing something!) That’s why I know the Neuton CE 5.2 Electric Lawn Mower is an Okay lawn mower.

The Neuton CE 5.2 Lawn Mower has a 14 inch blade which means it cuts an area 14 inches wide. That’s about the size of my lawn mower and I really can’t fault the Neuton CE 5.2 for that, 14 inch wide blades for pretty much standard, unless you buy a riding mower. What I do fault this lawn mower for is lacking the power and strength to propel the blade. There are very few lawn mowers that can deliver the power I need to mow my lawn, and chances are you’re needs are similar to mine. I may mow a big yard, but I’m definitely not mowing a jungle. If you buy this lawn mower be prepared to slow down if you reach thick patches of lawn….oh, and if you like the close to the ground look it’s going to be very difficult pushing the Neuton CE 5.2 Lawn Mower through your thatch. My other complaint is that the catch bag is way too small! I rarely use the catch bag on my own lawn, but if I did I would have to frequently stop and empty the catch bag.

In short, the Neuton CE 5.2 Lawn Mower is for people with small to medium sized lawns. But what’s more important, there are better electric lawn mowers out there for your money. Check through my reviews, I have plenty of recommendations!

Contech Scarecrow Motion-Activated Sprinkler CRO101

Hello,

Well, just as I promised it’s summer and I’m off work and school for the next 70 days! That means I’ll be working in the yard quite a bit and one thing I particularly look forward to is growing my own corn. One thing I’ve been thinking about buying….once I finally get some corn stalks coming out of the ground is the ScareCrow Sprinkler CRO101.

I’ve had fruit and vegetable gardens and they have been gobbled up by gophers, so I spent two years putting gopher traps in the ground and catching them. Now my yard and my neighbors yards are mole-hill free! The next big problem is birds. I have an apricot tree but the fruit always gets pecked away by crows and sparrows before I can ever get to it. I am determined to eat the fruits of my labor this summer and the Contech Scarecrow Sprinkler will help me do it. The Scarecrow CRO101 is equipped with a motion sensor that will spray your field with water the second a bird, squirrel, or anything else crosses YOUR garden. This is a highly effective and animal friendly way to making sure what’s yours is yours.

The Contech Scarecrow Sprinkler CRO101 is one piece of gardening equipment that is definitely NOT for the birds!

Hydrofarm CK64050 Germination Station Review

Hello,

Well, spring is finally coming around again. Flowers are starting to bloom, days are getting longer and warmer, and the rain seems to have stopped for now. This is the best time of the year for an amateur gardener like me! I don't know what I'll be planting this year, but I have a long trip to Home Depot scheduled for next weekend. I'll keep my readers updated and informed as this year's gardening moves ahead.

Since it is the beginning of spring, I would like to point out a product that can help reduce the cost of starting a new garden and make it easier to grow the plants you want to grow. I introduce the Germination Station. This machine works a lot like a miniature plug in greenhouse. If it's still too cold in your area to grow the plants you want to grow this spring, the Germination Station can make it possible to get seedlings started. The Germination Station comes with a heating pad and a clear plastic cover to control heat and humidity allowing you to create an ideal environment for growing whatever it is you want to grow.

Growing seeds is generally a lot more difficult than buying pony packs from the Home Depot or Wal-Mart's garden section and putting them in the ground. The germination Station makes growing plants from seedlings much easier, especially for the novice gardener. If you plan on growing a lot of new plants this spring you can save a lot of money by using the Germination Station by buying packages of seeds rather than pre-grown plants. Packages of seeds cost anywhere from a dollar to five dollars for high-end, premium plants. In contrast, pony packs can cost anywhere from three dollars to several hundred dollars. I personally prefer to start as many of my plants as possible from seeds rather than buying pony packs, it’s just the way things are done in my garden.

The only drawback I can see for the germination Station is the price. At $40, the germination Station is an expensive piece of gardening equipment. It's definitely not for some gardeners, but newbies and perfectionists like myself can find quite a bit use for the germination Station. If I had the money I'd probably buy one this spring. Alas, the recession is hitting me quite hard.

Lawn Boy Insight Gold Series Lawn Mower 10697 Review

Lawn Boy Insight Gold Series Gas Powered Lawn Mower 10697 Review
Lawn Boy Insight Gold Series Gas Powered Lawn Mower 10697 Rating: four stars out of five for the powerful Honda OHV Engine
Price: $489.99
Click To Buy The Lawn Boy Gold Series Lawn Mower 10697

I know it's been awhile but I'm back with another lawn mower review. I would have put some more lawn mower reviews up last week but it's kind of hard to type with a 100° temperature. Anyway back to work. Today I bring you a review of the Lawn Boy Insight Gold Series Gas Powered Lawn Mower 10697.

I know most of the people on this website just want to find a lawn mower that's going to cut their line without too much hassle. If that's the kind of lawn mower you're looking for a suggest one of the cheaper lawn boy lawn mowers. But if you're like me, you're fascinated with lawn tools that are powerful! This Lawn Boy lawn mower is one of the most powerful lawn mowers offered by Lawn Boy. It uses the powerful Honda OHV engine.

Lawn Boy has equipped the Gold Series Gas Powered Lawn Mower with their exclusive sens-a speed system. Sens-a-speed system propels the lawn mower across the grass so you don't have to put so much effort in to mowing your lawn. The system also senses how fast you're attempting to walk and adjusts the speed of the lawn mower accordingly.

Another cool feature is the quick stow lever. It lets you fold up the lawn mower once you’re done mowing your lawn and store it in a much smaller space. This is an attribute deal of people with large garages or plenty of room to store heavy equipment, but for people like me it's always good to know you can store things more efficiently if you need more space.

The Lawn Boy Gold series lawn mower is equipped with an idling feature that lets you stop the blade without having to stop the engine. It's not that big of a deal but some people like being able to walk away from them are in not having to restart it. This feature comes more and and the later on during the lifetime of lawn mower. After several years of use it may become harder to start the lawn mower and letting it idle will prevent you from having to restart the lawn mower.

Worx Electric Lawn Mower WG712 Review

Worx Electric Lawn Mower WG712 Review
Worx Electric Lawn Mower WG712 Rating: 4 stars out of 5 for excellent height options but a short cutting blade
Price: $229.99

I’ve seen many lawn mower manufacturers try to mask their poor quality lawn mowers and garden tools with cool looking frames and paint jobs. A lawn mower that stands out from the crowd signals my mind to danger! That same signal went off the first time I set eyes on the Worx Electric Lawn Mower WG712. I thought it was another lemon wrapped in excellent packaging. Closer examination revealed I was wrong.

We all know the benefits of an electric lawn mower. No oil to replace or those annoying trips to the gas station when you realize your gas can is empty; neither are there air filters to remove and clean or replace. But we’ll ignore those benefits to having an electric lawn mower for now and focus on the features of the Worx Electric Lawn Mower like the .75” – 2.75” adjustable cutting height. I generally keep my grass cut at 2”, so cutting height is almost never an issue when I purchase a new lawn mower. However, I do like to know I have the option of cutting it lower, especially when I go on vacation or get ready to reseed my grass. The .75” – 2.75” range is an extraordinarily wide cutting length range!

The Worx Eelectric Lawn Mower WG712 uses a 13 AMP electric motor as opposed to the more common 12 AMP motors that can be seen in most lawn mowers. That’s not enough for me to brag on and on about the power of this lawn mower like I did the cutting height, but it is powerful enough for this reviewer to say it should have no problems cutting through most lawns.

The handle looks a little flimsy. Once again, looks are very deceiving; the handle of the Worx Electric Lawn Mower holds up to abuse just fine. It has comfortable grips too. A lot of lawn mower manufacturers forget that even rugged outdoorsmen like yours truly would prefer some kind of foam or padding around the handles.

My one complaint about this lawn mower is the blade length. It’s a little short. For 220 bucks I would definitely like to see an 18” – 20” blade. Sure, it makes the Worx WG712 Lawn mower a lot lighter, but a good lawn mower should be able to cut a medium sized lawn in a reasonable amount of time. If you considering the Worx Electric Lawn Mower

Black and Decker Lawn Hog Electric Mower MM875 Review

Black and Decker Lawn Hog Electric Mower MM875 Review
Black and Decker Lawn Hog Electric Mower MM875 Rating: 4 stars out of 5 for light frame and excellent cutting quality
Price: $219.99
Click To Buy The Black and Decker Lawn Hog Mower

There are plenty of people out there with small lawns and smaller people who cut lawns. If you’re one of those people I’m talking directly to you. The Black and Decker Lawn Hog M875 Lawn Mower is a lightweight electric lawnmower designed to cut small to medium sized lawns. Is the Black and Decker Lawn Hog a cut above the rest? Read the rest of this review to find out.

The Black and Decker Lawn Hog MM875 has a 19” cutting blade that should get be able to cut through most medium sized lawns in about 15 - 20 minutes. Medium size means about 250 square feet. One of the reasons the Lawn Hog MM875 can cut through things so fast is the incredibly light weight design. I can’t imagine going so fast with a gas powered push lawn mower!

Another reason why the Black and Decker Lawn Hog MM875 is so great is because it requires almost no assembly out of the box. Just about the only thing you’ll have to do is unravel an extension cord and attach the grass catcher, if you plan on using it. It’s nice to know this lawn mower can be out of the box and cutting in 5 minutes once it has been delivered or picked up from Home Depot.

If you happen to be one of those gardeners that have a precise idea of lawn and garden perfection, you’ll be happy to know the blade height can be adjusted from 1.25” to 3.5”. Blade height is crucial to the look and feel of your lawn. I personally prefer a thicker lawn and let my blade rest around 2.5”. I can’t tell you how thick or thin to cut your lawn, it depends on the type of grass and your personal preferences. But I can tell you I love it when a lawn mower manufacturer like Black and Decker provides their customers with the power to choose!

That’s about all I have to say. Just remember, the Black and Decker Lawn Hog Mower MM875 is a light to medium grade lawn mower. Buy for small to medium sized lawns and I’m certain you’ll enjoy using this lawn mower!

Poulan Pro 400E Electric Chainsaw Review

Poulan Pro 400E Electric Chainsaw Review Poulan Pro 400E Electric Chainsaw Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5
Price: $90
Click To Buy The Poulan Pro 400E Electric Chainsaw

Last week I was insulted when a friend said “Choosing between a gas or electric chainsaw is like choosing between paper or plastic.” I never felt more insulted. We were talking about chainsaws, something serious. It’s not like we’re talking McDonalds’ or Burger King. Urrghhh, some people will never learn. I personally prefer not to play favorites between electric and gas powered chainsaws. I like to keep both types on hand, electric chainsaws for quick jobs and gas chainsaws for more arduous tasks. Today I’ll be going in to detail about one of my favorite electric chainsaws, the Poulan Pro 400E Electric Chainsaw.

I do not have the audacity and nerve of some other chainsaw review writers and say “it will cut 10 feet of oak in 10 seconds”. The Poulan Pro 400E is not for cutting down giant trees or taming the Alaskan Frontier. But it’s still one of the best chainsaws out there for cutting firewood and pruning thicker tree branches and bushes. It’s also very light, making it a lot easier on the arms to accomplish tasks that will last longer than 20 minutes.

Another reason why I like the Poulan Pro Electric Chainsaw is the no hassle maintenance. No priming pumps, no messy, smelly gas. Just grab an extension cord and turn it on to start your work quickly. Just remember, like all chainsaws, the Poulan Pro 400E Electric Chainsaw does require regular lubrication. If you’re chainsaw is not properly lubricated, you’re going to have problems and plenty of frustration. Just look at the directions, they should tell you everything you need to know for maintaining your chainsaw.

Of course, I can’t overlook cost. Cost one of the main reasons why I have rated the Poulan 400E Electric Chainsaw so high. It retails for about $90 online and Amazon offers free shipping. There’s not too much of a chance your local hardware store is going to be able to beat that price. I strongly recommend the Poulan Pro 400E Chainsaw to just about anyone with a yard to maintain.

Poulan Pro Lawn Mower PR600N21RH Review

Poulan Pro Lawn Mower PR600N21RH Review
Poulan Pro Lawn Mower PR600N21RH Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5 for using a powerful Briggs and Stratton engine and a simple design
Price: $205
Click To Buy The Poulan Pro Lawn Mower

I like my burgers all different ways. I like them with pineapple and teriyaki sauce, with secret sauce, lettuce, tomato, and extra pickle, or on toasted garlic bread with a hearty meat sauce. But sometimes I like it simple. Just a hunk of meat and cheese between a fresh toasted hamburger bun. If you like to keep things simple, I can’t think of a simpler gas powered lawn mower than the Poulan Pro 3 in 1 lawn mower.

One of the other things I hate doing when I buy a new lawn mower is assembling it. It can sometimes take a couple hours. I may have a green thumb, but I’m definitely not a grease monkey. I usually have my new lawn mowers assembled at family owned lawn mower shop called Oshiros. Fortunately for the mechanically inept, the Poulan Pro Lawn Mower comes fully assembled when it ships! Just gas and go! The only thing that might have to be assembled is the handle, but that’s only a couple screws away from completion.

If you’re like me, you like to start the lawn mower and cut. The Poulan Pro does not have any annoying gears to mess with or figure out, there is no drive system causing unnecessary problems. When you’re using the Poulan Pro Push Lawn Mower, it’s just you, your lawn mower, and the grass. Ahhh, I’m getting euphoric just thinking about the fresh cut grass.

Poulan has decided to use the powerful Briggs and Stratton 600 Series Engine to power their Poulan Pro Lawn Mower. It’s no secret, I like powerful tools. Gardening is just not fun if you have to stop every two inches to give a chainsaw blade a rest or your weed wacker can’t power through those thick weeds you’ve been meaning to cut for six months. The Briggs and Stratton 600 Series Engine delivers 190 cc’s of torque and should be powerful enough to cut even the thickest of lawns with ease.

Finally, Poulan has priced the Poulan Pro Lawn Mower very low. I think Poulan could get away with charging about $50 bucks more, just don’t tell them I said so. I would hate to think they raised the price because of a garden blogger like myself! Well that’s all I have to say on the subject. I hope you find a lawn mower that keeps your yard looking neat!

Scotts Reel Push Mower Review

Scotts Reel Mower Review
Scotts Reel Mower Rating: 5 stars out of 5 for being a perfect push mower
Price: $109.99
Click To Buy The Scotts Push Reel Mower

I’m not a fan of push mowers, my father is. He bought a push mower about five years ago to mow a half acre backyard lawn for “exercise”. I have no doubt driving a push mower is exercise, but it just seems like a conventional lawn mower can provide just as much exercise. I should probably stop trying to understand my burned out hippie dad. His ways are as mysterious to me as youtube is to him.

The Scotts Reel Push Mower is probably the best push mower out there. The blades are sharp out of the box and should cut through grass without any problems. Push mowers with lots of drag tend to slow down quickly and you’ll have to pull back the mower and cut the same area again. So long as you keep the blades lubricated properly, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Well, it’s always a problem with a push mower, but the Scotts Reel Push Mower keeps it down to an absolute minimum.

One of the things I really like about this push mower is height selection. I don’t know what it is about a lot of push mower manufacturers, but they seem to think that people using a push mower don’t have a lawn height preference. This is not the case as my hippie dad likes to use his Scotts Reel Mower on the highest setting.

I really don’t know what else to say about the Scotts Push Mower, there just isn’t that much to talk about. You know a product is as simple as possible when amazon.com uses “Includes mower, handle, composite wheels” in their product description. Honestly, when handles and wheels not included with a lawn mower? I guess that does it for my Scotts Reel Push Lawn Mower Review.

Black and Decker Alligator Lopper Chainsaw Review

Black and Decker Alligator Lopper Chainsaw Review
Black and Decker Alligator Lopper Chainsaw Rating: 5 stars out of 5 for an innovative design that cuts hassle from cutting
Price: $99.99
Click To Buy The Black and Decker Alligator Lopper LP1000

There are so many chainsaws out there to choose from. Poulan, Makita, Ryobi. Then there are gas chainsaws, electric chainsaws, corded chainsaws, and cordless chainsaws. It’s kind of hard to choose a chainsaw with all the clutter going around. That’s okay, that’s why I’m here and my site is here. When there is a bad chainsaw and lawn mower, rest assured I’ll help you avoid when. When there’s a good chain saw, you’ll be sure to know I’ll yell and scream about it! That’s why I’m bringing you a review of the Black and Decker Alligator Lopper Chainsaw.

One of the things I like about the free market is competition. Competition fosters innovation. In an attempt to attract more customers Black and Decker has continually sought to make their products better and cheaper. That’s where the Alligator Lopper Chainsaw comes in. The Alligator Lopper is a revolutionary chainsaw designed for cutting small logs and branches. It has a jaw-like frame encasing the chain and teeth making that can be opened and clasped with a scissor like handle. It makes gripping and cutting firewood or pruning branches incredibly easy!

If you’re worried about power, the Alligator Lopper comes with a powerful 4.5 amps motor that powers the chain through shrubs, brush, and logs. It’s also a very light 6.5 lbs. I’m not going to go so far as to say the Alligator Lopper is an alternative or replacement for a conventional chainsaw. It’s not. But if you have lots of cutting and trimming to do or firewood to cut, this is going to help you get the job done faster and easier. The Black and Decker Alligator Lopper chainsaw is a great compliment for a normal chainsaw.

The only warning I have is don’t expect to cut down a rain forest. The Black and Decker Lopper is designed for light to medium sized branches and wood.

Lawn Boy Insight Lawn Mower 103685 Review

Lawn Boy Insight Gas Powered Lawn Mower 103685 Review
Lawn Boy Insight Gas Powered Lawn Mower Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5 for being powerful, reliable, and cheap
Price: $349
Click To Buy The Lawn-Boy Insight Series Lawn Mower 10685

When I first started my lawn tool and garden blog I didn’t want to review lawn mowers. I hate the thought of people telling me what lawn mower to buy. I’m so passionate about my lawn that I’m touchy and defensive when someone tells me I should be using this lawn mower or that edger to get a better looking lawn. That changed last week when my friend Jimmy came by and asked me about my lawn. He wanted to know about lawn mowers, how much he should pay, and whether or not he should get an electric or gas powered lawn mower. “Oh! Not everyone is as touchy as me!” Thanks to my friend Jimmy I have chosen to review the Lawn Boy Insight Gas Powered Lawn Mower

Just remember, I’m not going to compare the Lawn Boy Insight to any Electric Lawn Mowers, it’s like comparing an apple to an orange. You can’t do it.

I like Lawn Boy Lawn Mowers because they have proven to be rugged. When I accidentally run over that hidden rock or mow my dog Pepper’s chew toy I know there’s a good chance the Lawn Boy will overcome and continue turning. I can’t say that about too many brands and I’ll be the first to admit that Lawn Boy has produced some produced some pretty bad lawn mowers in the past, but Lawn Boy has far more huge successes than failures. That said, the Lawn Boy Insight 103685 Lawn Mower is another one of Lawn Boy’s success stories.

The first thing that’s always on my mind is horsepower. The Lawn Boy Insight possesses a powerful 6.5 HP motor that should power through most tall grass and weeds. I’m not going to be so bold as to say it can ride through tree stumps, but the sheer power and excellent blade design combine to make a very effective lawn mower.

Lawn Boy has done a very good job with the deck and including clipping options. Lawn Boy has built a 21” deck for the Insight Gas Powered Lawn Mower. That’s a good deck size for yards under half an acre. Gardeners can choose to adjust the blade to cut grass between 1” to 4”. A one inch to four inch blade length should be suitable for most lawns except people trying to grow their own golfing green.

One of the reasons I really like the Lawn Boy Insight is the self propelling drive system. A lot of companies get this part of the lawn mower wrong. I’ve used lawn mowers where the self propel system will pull the user or move so slowly it hampers the speed of the gardener. Lawn Boy has built the Lawn Boy Insight Gas Powered Lawn Mower with a smart drive system that senses how fast the gardener is pushing the mower and automatically adjusts the speed of the drive system to accommodate. It’s a really easy to use drive system.

This Lawn Boy Insight Gas Powered Lawn Mower 103685 is truly a well made machine. So long as proper care and maintenance is taken, it should last through many seasons worth of mowing and mulching. On top of all this, what really sells me on the Lawn Boy Insight is price. The Lawn Boy Insight sells for a mere $349! That’s incredibly cheap and enough to earn a near perfect 4.5 stars from me!

Toro Weed Wacker Review 51467

Toro 8” Electric Weed Wacker Review
Toro 8” Electric Weed Wacker Rating: 2.5 stars out of 5 for feeling flimsy and outclassed by cheaper weed wackers
Price: $69.99
Click To Buy The Toro Cordless Trimmer #51467

This was a bad weekend. My perfect Saturday of video games, BBQing, and of course working on my soon to be immaculate lawn was ruined by surprise houseguests. I’m glad they came, but I’m not glad weed wacking and marinating were replaced by sweeping and baking. Oh well, I was glad to see them, it’s been a while. Anyway, I wanted to cheer myself up by writing about lawn and garden tools. If I can’t work on my lawn, I can at least think about it!

The Toro 8 Inch Weed Wacker is decent. It’s not horrible, it’s not great, it’s decent. It has a fairly decent Bump and Feed line that feeds string by tapping the head on pavement. It has a decent price. I wouldn’t feel cheated if I bought this Toro Weed Wacker, but I would get the same feeling I felt when I walked out of Cloverfield and think “huh? That’s it? Okay.” But there are definitely better priced weed eaters out there with far more features and much better designs.

The Toro 8 Inch Battery Powered Weed Eater has a single saving grace. The manufacturer’s 2 year warranty at least tells me Toro has confidence enough to provide parts and service for this weed wacker if it malfunctions or breaks down in the field. I feel confident in just about any lawn tool when the manufacturer says “hey, I’ll replace it if it breaks on ya because I know it won’t.”

My big problem with the Toro Battery Powered Weed Eater is that it feels like an orange crème puff. The best way to describe holding the Toro 5146 Weed Wacker is it like holding a wiffle bat. I don’t know about you, but I like my lawn and garden tools to feel solid. The wiffle bat feel is just distracting.

I could go in to a few more details about the decent battery life and power. But I won’t. Frankly the Toro 8 Inch Weed Wacker is just too middle of the road for me to have any passion to write about it. I like to review lawn tools and equipment that are horrible or stellar. Mediocre just leaves me cold.

Black and Decker Lawncare Center Set

Hello Fellow Gardeners,

I was surfing Amazon and found this lawn tool set and thought “that’s perfect for the beginning gardener!” Amazon likes to sell things in bulk. If you’ve ever been to a Sam’s Club or Costco you well know that buying a dozen dozen donuts is half as expensive as buying a dozen donuts. (Something your heart and stomach probably disagrees with.) In an effort to cut prices Amazon has put together a garden tool set that sells for very cheap. It includes a Black and Decker Hedger, Trimmer / Edger, and Blower. That’s just about all you need to keep your bushes hedged, your lawn cut clean, and clear your driveway of the clippings in no time flat.

Click To Buy The Black & Decker Lawncare Center CCC3000
This is an incredible value and would cost well over $200 if each piece were purchased individually. Amazon is selling the entire set of garden tools for $169.99; the set includes:

Black & Decker Grasshog Trimmer / Edger / Weed Wacker NST2018
12” Cutting Path
Adjustable Handle
Automatic String Feeding
Groom ‘N’ Edge for guided edging
Lightweight design

Black & Decker Hedgehog Hedge Trimmer NHT518
22” long blade
Designed to reduce vibration
Cuts approximately 1200 square feet or for 50 minutes
Excellent 2 year warranty

Black & Decker Blower NS118
Large on and off switch
120 MPH airspeed (Powerful, hold firmly)
Weighs 5.5 lbs.

That’s all I have to say. That’s why I wanted to blog about the Makita Electric Chainsaw. A good chainsaw belongs in the tool shed of every professional and amateur gardener and can prevent your day from being filled with frustration and expletives. So, let’s take a closer look in my Makita Electric Chainsaw UC4000 Review.

Power is what drives most people to a decision when buying a chainsaw. Unfortunately, raw power comes with a lot of extra hassles like pull starting and gas fumes. That’s why many people have turned to electric chainsaws. They’re free of many of the headaches associated with gas powered chainsaws but are generally less powerful. Makita has tried to rectify this tradeoff with the Makita Electric Chainsaw UC4000. It’s a very powerful electric chainsaw and power and convenience are your primary factors choosing a chainsaw, this is probably the chainsaw for you!

The Makita 16” Chainsaw is quiet. Many people bought this chainsaw to appease neighbors complaining about their “old gas chainsaw”. I’m not going to say it’s as quiet as a mouse, but for a chainsaw, it comes fairly close. Besides maintaining the chain, the only other upkeep is oil. The Makita Electric Chainsaw admittedly goes through oil a little fast, but to Makita’s credit, the oil chamber is transparent making it easy to keep your chainsaw lubed up and running smoothly.

The last thing I want to talk about it price. Makita sells this electric chainsaw for about $200. It was a very tough call, but the sheer power of the Makita Electric Chainsaw makes me feel comfortable saying that the $200 is well worth it. This is one of the best Chainsaws on the market and I’m confident you’ll be extremely satisfied with your purchase.

Weed Eater Electric Blower EBV215 Review

Weed Eater Electric Blower EBV215 Review
Weed Eater Electric Blower EBV215 Rating: 1 stars out of 5 for a frequently defective leaf catcher bag and costing too much
Price: $53.99
Click To Buy The Weed Eater Blower EBV215

Sometimes companies just get things wrong, like when Sony thought giving the Playstation 3 a better graphics card was going to sell consoles or when Dominos Pizza thought Oreo Pizza with a cardboard crust was palatable. Today I review a blower that was manufactured by a company that just got it wrong. Here is my Weed Eater Electric Blower Review.

The Weed Eater Electric Blower is not your average blower, it’s actually far less than your average blower. You can expect the average blower to work with a small risk of defects. I can’t say the same of the Weed Eater Electric Blower. It is plagued with problems.

Weed Eater attempted to create a 3 in 1 blower, mulcher, and lawn vacuum. The Weed Eater Blower works fine when it’s running. My problem is that it doesn’t always run. Many people have reported that their Weed Eater Blower will shut off after a few minutes of use. That’s not the only problem. If you’re lucky enough to order a Weed Eater Blower that actually works, the bag used to capture leaves and debris when vacuuming frequently spews dust and the zippers often break down very quickly. Weed Eater has been very good about replacing the defective bags, but I wouldn’t want the hassle anyway.

Hopefully we’ll see some better products from Weed Eater in the future. Until then I can’t recommend the Weed Eater Electric Blower EBV215 in this review because there’s a decent chance you’ll get one that doesn’t work. My favorite blower brands are Toro or Black and Decker; they have a consistent track record of well designed and manufactured blowers.

Black & Decker Grasshog Edger / Trimmer Review

Black & Decker Grasshog Edger / Trimmer Review
Black & Decker Grasshog Trimmer / Edger Rating: 5 Stars out of 5 for long battery life, automatic string feeding, and being powerful for a battery powered weed wacker
Price: $89.99
Click To Buy The Black and Decker Grasshog String Trimmer / Edger NST2018

Greetings!

It’s been a long weekend! I didn’t get around to everything I wanted to do on Saturday. I never do. But what else is new? I had to cut my yard work session short last weekend to make way for Smash Bros. Brawl. I wouldn’t be surprised if posting on this site becomes sporadic as my desire to blog is weaker than my desire to smash! One of the things I cut out of last Saturdays’ To Do list was weed wacking. I hate seeing my lawn creep on to my pavement, but sacrifices had to be made. I failed to trim my lawn because I couldn’t find the extension cord! Urrghhh! That’s why I’ve decided to inform my readers of a well designed weed wacker / weed eater / trimmer / edger that does not require power cords or gas. Here is my review of the Black and Decker Grasshog String Weed Eater Review.

Extension cords are messy. Just ask anyone who has ever owned an electric lawnmower. They get tangled, they’re never where you left ‘em, and when you do manage to find one and plug in your weed wacker they get in the way. That’s why the next weed eater I plan on buying is going to be a cordless electric weed eater. One of the best cordless electric weed wackers on the market today is the Black and Decker Grasshog. The Grasshog carries a price tag of about $90 and does a superb job justifying the price tag.

The Black & Decker Grasshog has earned one of my highest ratings for being one of the most powerful battery powered weed wackers on the market. It’s not going to cut down the Amazon, but it will definitely get through edging the front lawn and should cut down tall weeds without too much trouble.

If you’re worried about battery life, the Grasshog Trimmer comes with two rechargeable batteries. Each battery can last up to 2 hours, but a conservative estimate is 40 – 45 minutes depending on how heavy your weeds are. If two batteries aren’t enough for maintaining your lawn, I suggest you check out a gas powered or corded trimmer; if you have that much trimming to do, you’ll probably appreciate the extra power.

The Black and Decker Grasshog Trimmer / Edger comes with an automatic string feed system that automatically lengthens the string as you edge. That means no more bumping and stopping in the middle of your lawn to adjust the string. I’ve seen many companies try this out; they usually stop working after a few months which means the poor sap who bought it has to stop and open up the head every time the string gets short. That’s not the case with the Grasshog Edger; it works well and works for a very long time.

Toro Ultra Electric Blower / Vacuum Review

Toro Ultra Electric Blower / Vacuum Review
Toro Ultra Electric Blower / Vacuum Rating: 5 stars out of 5 for being light, powerful, cheap, and having very unique features.
Price: $69.99
Click To Buy The Toro Ultra Blower 51599

Hello Readers!

Today is Saturday, my favorite day of the week. Saturday is the day I can spend the whole afternoon and evening in my front yard and my girlfriend can’t say anything about it. I usually start around 3 and go till it gets too cold or dark to work. Right now, I’m just killing time till 3 and figured I would write a garden tool review. Today, I bring you the Toro Ultra Electric Blower and Vacuum Review.

When I first saw this Toro Blower I fell in love. I thought “it couldn’t possibly do all these things well and cost that little!” There are always things to do in my yard and I love it when a company like Toro comes out with a tool that does more than one job, that way I don’t spend my afternoon picking up and cleaning tools.

What does the Toro Ultra Electric Blower do? Well, it blows, but in a good way. It can reach wind speeds of up to 235 miles per hour. Tenacious leaves gripping to pavement won’t have a chance. (I hate when I have to give in and get a rake to scrape something off my driveway when my blower just doesn’t do the trick.) Airflow can be reversed, turning the Toro Ultra Electric Blower in to a vacuum cleaner. That’s useful for picking up the pile of dirt and leaves you just shuffled in to a corner.

Finally, there’s a built in leaf shredder. Shredders are great for people like me in winter and fall when their trees leave barrels full of leaves on the grass and pavement. The shredder can cut up to sixteen Hefty Bags worth of leaves up and make them fit into a single bag! Just be careful not to let too many sticks or rocks go through the machine, this isn’t a heavy shredder, it’s meant for leaves.

One thing that has been getting overlooked by manufacturers of electric gardening tools is power cords falling out of place. This has happened to me quite a bit and it’s frustrating. Thankfully, this problem is being solved by the free market and Toro has designed a power cord locking system that keeps the power cord in place. The power cord lock certainly puts the Toro Leaf Blower over the top and earns a perfect 5 stars out of 5!
